Jindal Chief of Staff Scores Freebie Suite Tickets to Hannah Montana Show
From WAFB 9News: Jim Shannon reports on how Governor Bobby Jindal’s Chief of Staff Timmy Teepell cashed in on his office (and credibility) for three skybox suite tickets to last month’s Hannah Montana concert at the New Orleans Arena. The almost unbelievable revelation comes just a day after the Louisiana Senate unanimously passed a measure that would ban freebie tickets. And though WAFB reports that regular tickets range in price from $26 to $66, any parent of young children can attest that kind of money couldn’t even get you into a decent parking spot at one of the pre-teen sensation’s shows. As for the cost of box suite tickets? Figuring that would require the assistance of an economist.
Jindal denies knowledge of the incident and could only summon the following comment:
“Jim, again, bottom line. We’re gonna follow the law like everybody else. We proposed sweeping changes in the law. We’re saying legislators shouldn’t be getting lavish meals. We’ve said the same things on free tickets from people being able to influence elected or appointed leaders. That’s why we’re going through this session, to get the bills done to change the way business is done in Louisiana.”
