Frontier to Take the Money and Run

From The Advocate: Six months after a million dollar incentives package helped lure the discount airline to Baton Rouge, Frontier Airlines has announced it will be dropping services on April 14. This will mean, among other things, higher ticket prices for travelers flying out of Baton Rouge.

The story includes comments from Baton Rouge Mayor-President Kip Holden and Baton Rouge Airport spokesman Ronnie Pickard, but nothing from Louisiana Secretary of Economic Development Stephen Moret. As head of the Baton Rouge Area Chamber of Commerce last year, Moret was a key player in bringing Frontier to Baton Rouge in the first place.

Holden says he still holds out some hope for keeping Frontier in Baton Rouge. Let’s hope someone from the Department of Economic Development steps up quickly to lend the Mayor a hand.
