Spitzer Pulls A Vitter

New York Governor Elliott Spitzer and disgraced Louisiana Senator David Vitter, are not exactly political soul mates. However, after Spitzer admitted a Vitteresque predilection for prostitutes this afternoon, Spitzer and Vitter now find themselves uncomfortably close.

The irony is sadly lost on the Republican Governor’s Association:

The Governor of New York should immediately resign from office and allow the people of New York to pursue honest leadership. The American people are tired of corrupt and hypocritical politicians.

The Governor of New York is just another in the long list of politicians that have failed their constituents.

Vitter’s Republican colleagues, led by Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, were a lot more forgiving of their own colleagues’ foibles when the story broke last summer:

While we are disappointed by Senator Vitter’s actions, Supriya and I continue to keep David and his family in our prayers,” Jindal said, referring to his wife. “This is a matter for the Senator to address, and it is our hope that this is not used by others for their own political gain.

Jindal was elected to the RGA’s four member executive committee almost immediately after his election in October.
