Temple to Face Ethics Charges

Collis Temple Jr., chairman of the Baton Rouge Parish Recreation and Park Commission and a juvenile justice advisor to Gov. Jindal’s administration, will face charges before the Louisiana Board of Ethics on Aug. 14. Temple is accused of allegedly participating in transactions between BREC and a company owned by his father-in-law. The company, Unemployment Compensation Control Systems, also employs his wife.

The Advocate reported last month that Temple, who holds millions of dollars in state contracts, was tapped by the administration to help select the official who controls state juvenile justice contracts. Temple owns Harmony House, which provides halfway houses to the state Office of Youth Development to the tune of $5.9 million dollars. When questioned about Temple’s influence, chief of staff Timmy Teepell saw nothing wrong with the arrangement.
