Jindal’s top lawyer suspected author of amendment weakening ethics standards
The reduct box has learned that Jindal Administration Executive Counsel Jimmy Faircloth is at the center of a controversial amendment to ethics legislation that raises the burden of proof on the prosecution of state ethics charges. The change is being criticized by good government groups who say that the change makes successfully prosecuting ethics violations all but impossible.
According to sources, Faircloth authored the amendment to change the standard, which was introduced at the 11th hour of February’s ethics special session by Jindal ally Senator Bob Kostelka of Monroe.
