Fleming leads GOP pack in race to replace McCrery

Results of a poll obtained by a reliable source show Minden Physician John Flemming with a seven point edge over nearest rival Shreveport businessman Chris Gorman and a 13 point lead over Shreveport attorney and GOP favorite Jeff Thompson. More results after the jump.

The poll was conducted July 16-21, 2008 and sampled 600 likely general election voters in Louisiana’s 4th District. The margin of error is ± 4.0%.

For all 600 respondents:

Jeff Thompson – 67% do not recognize
Chris Gorman – 59% do not recognize
John Fleming – 54% do not recognize

For respondents who said in a previous question that they would be voting in the Republican Primary.

If the Republican primary election for Congress were held today, would you vote for:

John Fleming - 27%
Chris Gorman – 20%
Jeff Thompson – 14%
undecided – 37%
refused - 1%
