Vitter not welcome on runway

From the Times-Picayune: Despite his listing as a co-chair of the fundraiser for Senate hopeful John Neely Kennedy yesterday, disgraced Louisiana Senator David Vitter was conspicuosly absent from President George W. Bush’s televised remarks at the Baton Rouge airport. Bush, who was accompanied by Kennedy and Governor Bobby Jindal, did provide Vitter a lift back to DC aboard Airforce 1. No word on whether the Senator pitched in for gas.

Vitter spared from the DC Hot Seat

From the Shreveport Times

Vitter “between a rock and a hard place”

From the Daily Advertiser: To take the fifth or not to take the fifth? That’s the question as Vitter stares down the “DC Hot Seat.”

Meanwhile, GOP flak Lee Fletcher at Townhallshow.com does his darndest to stem the calls from Democrats and Republicans for Vitter’s resignation. According to Fletcher, “Vitter is doing what the voters elected him to do,” though no one can seem to recall any “I will plead the fifth when called to testify in a prostituion ring trial” mandate coming out of his 2004 campaign. Dems link Kennedy to Vitter

Through a new web ad and a litany of sharp questions, Democrats are taking aim at embattled state treasurer and senate hopeful John Kennedy over his association with Senator David Vitter. After Vitter proclaimed last week that he was actively helping Kennedy in his race, Dem Party chair Chris Whittington called Kennedy out, demanding answers to such questions as whether he would take help from Idaho Senator Larry Craig and whether Kennedy, a Vitter opponent in 2004, would have used the DC Madam against Vitter in his race had Vitter confessed to his serious sin back then. More from the Bayou Buzz.

Steering John Kennedy

The DSCC has just released a new web ad mocking John Kennedy’s steering committee, Karl Rove, George W. Bush and, of course, the ever amusing David Vitter.

Craig: Vitter should not resign

From The Hill:

(Idaho Senator Larry) Craig said he has told Vitter he regretted the fact that his own case seemed to cause the media to dredge up and rehash Vitters situation. He also said he sympathizes with Vitters treatment by the media.

Crouere: Vitter more of a joke every day

From the Bayou Buzz: Compares Vitter to Brittany Spears and Paris Hilton. Emplores him to stop acting like a runaway child.

Also from the Buzz, Democrats are looking for answers from state treasurer John Kennedy over his relationship with David Vitter, in addition to renewed calls for Vitter’s resignation.

CourtTVitter: Nowhere to Run

From WAFB: Senator David Vitter, seeking to escape questions regarding his being called to testify in the Deborah Palfrey trial, takes out a No Parking sign in Gonzales.

CourtTVitter: Vitter to plead the fifth

This is the first in what we expect to be a long running segment, CourtTVitter. The DC Madam, Deborah Jeane Palfrey, has promised a circus and despite Vitter’s best efforts to deflect attention it seems inevitable that the image of yet another unethical Louisiana politician will be plastered across the nation’s TV screens. How much longer can this go on?

Kennedy wants Vitter’s help, just not anyone to know about it

As we noted yesterday, GOP Senator David Vitter has been proudly touting himself as a big time fundraiser for newly converted GOP Senate candidate, John Kennedy.

And yet, it appears the Kennedy campaign is trying to have it both ways as they appear to have left Vitter’s name off the invitation to the big Bush-Kennedy fundraiser in Baton Rouge later this month!

View the damning evidence for yourself here.

Even Sen. Vitter must realize he’s reached a personal nadir when his own party is so ashamed of him they won’t even allow him to be a named host of one of the biggest LA GOP fundraisers of the year.
