Campaign '10

Craig: Vitter should not resign

From The Hill:

(Idaho Senator Larry) Craig said he has told Vitter he regretted the fact that his own case seemed to cause the media to dredge up and rehash Vitters situation. He also said he sympathizes with Vitters treatment by the media.

Crouere: Vitter more of a joke every day

From the Bayou Buzz: Compares Vitter to Brittany Spears and Paris Hilton. Emplores him to stop acting like a runaway child.

Also from the Buzz, Democrats are looking for answers from state treasurer John Kennedy over his relationship with David Vitter, in addition to renewed calls for Vitter’s resignation.

Perkins eyes Vitter

From the Politico: Is former State Rep and Senate Candidate Tony Perkins gearing up for 2010.

CourtTVitter: Nowhere to Run

From WAFB: Senator David Vitter, seeking to escape questions regarding his being called to testify in the Deborah Palfrey trial, takes out a No Parking sign in Gonzales.

CourtTVitter: Vitter to plead the fifth

This is the first in what we expect to be a long running segment, CourtTVitter. The DC Madam, Deborah Jeane Palfrey, has promised a circus and despite Vitter’s best efforts to deflect attention it seems inevitable that the image of yet another unethical Louisiana politician will be plastered across the nation’s TV screens. How much longer can this go on?

Kennedy wants Vitter’s help, just not anyone to know about it

As we noted yesterday, GOP Senator David Vitter has been proudly touting himself as a big time fundraiser for newly converted GOP Senate candidate, John Kennedy.

And yet, it appears the Kennedy campaign is trying to have it both ways as they appear to have left Vitter’s name off the invitation to the big Bush-Kennedy fundraiser in Baton Rouge later this month!

View the damning evidence for yourself here.

Even Sen. Vitter must realize he’s reached a personal nadir when his own party is so ashamed of him they won’t even allow him to be a named host of one of the biggest LA GOP fundraisers of the year.

Vitter to buddy up with Kennedy

“Politically Impotent”

With Guiliani long gone, the Veep talk centering around a different Louisiana Republican and the prospect of his being called as a witness in defense of alleged DC Madam Deborah Jeane Palfrey, Senator David Vitter is flying in the face of a barrage of critcism from all sides who say that if he is called to the stand he simply must stand down. (Even) More VP Talk for Bobby

It’s Tuesday, which means it’s time to talk of a number 2 spot on the GOP ticket for Bobby Jindal. Which means it’s also time for Bobby Jindal to cast aside talk of a VP slot. (Is there any other way to talk about talk of a VP slot?)

Meanwhile, rumors of their own are circulating that Jindal Chief of Staff Timmy Teepell is considering jumping over to the McCain campaign.  More on Jindal’s non VP talk from the AP.

Jeff Crouere: Vitter Should Resign, But Won’t

Former Louisiana Republican Party Executive Director, Jeff Crouere, has been one of Senator David Vitter’s staunchest critics. He continued to pile on the pressure during last week’s edition of Ringside Politics. Vitter also came under fire from fellow conservatives, Vincent Bruno, a religious right leader, and Bruce Smith, author of ‘Soul Storm.’
