(Even) More VP Talk for Bobby

It’s Tuesday, which means it’s time to talk of a number 2 spot on the GOP ticket for Bobby Jindal. Which means it’s also time for Bobby Jindal to cast aside talk of a VP slot. (Is there any other way to talk about talk of a VP slot?)

Meanwhile, rumors of their own are circulating that Jindal Chief of Staff Timmy Teepell is considering jumping over to the McCain campaign.  More on Jindal’s non VP talk from the AP.

Jeff Crouere: Vitter Should Resign, But Won’t

Former Louisiana Republican Party Executive Director, Jeff Crouere, has been one of Senator David Vitter’s staunchest critics. He continued to pile on the pressure during last week’s edition of Ringside Politics. Vitter also came under fire from fellow conservatives, Vincent Bruno, a religious right leader, and Bruce Smith, author of ‘Soul Storm.’

Will the Caller get Called?

After enduring two weeks of obvious comparisons and renewed calls from Conservatives and Democrats alike for his resignation, Senator David Vitter faces yet another date with Destiny (the real kind, not the lap dancer) on April 7th when jury selection begins in the trial of Deborah Jeane Palfrey, the alleged DC Madam. That’s when we’ll likely know if Louisiana’s “stain” of a Senator will be called to testify. More from the T-P.

The Vitter call. . .continued

From the Independent Weekly: Scott Jordan, the reporter who found himself on the phone with Senator David Vitter last week, updates his report on the Senator’s “you say hooker, I say immigration” defense of why he remains in office after Eliot Spitzer’s exit from the New York Governor’s mansion.

Also, Chris Tidmore in the Bayou Buzz, on why he put his Republican reputation on the line, and continues to do so, over the Vitter scandal.

Dem Chief to Vitter: “Be a man and resign”

On the heels of an editorial in last Sunday’s Gambit Weekly calling on Senator David Vitter to follow in the footsteps of disgraced New York Governor Eliot Spitzer and resign, state Democratic Party Chair Chris Whittington employed some of the harshest language to date. Calling Vitter “a stain on our state’s attempt to demonstrate that we have changed our ways” Whittington challenges Vitter to “stand up, be a man and resign like Governor Spitzer.”

Whittington’s full statement available here courtesy of the Bayou Buzz.

Vitter: There is an enormous difference between me and Spitzer

From the Independent Weekly: Senator thinks furor has more to do with immigration stance than hooker stance.

Anybody who looks at the two cases will see that there is an enormous difference between the two of them. The people that are trying to draw comparisons to the two cases are people who’ve never agreed with me on important issues like immigration and other things.

Spitzer/Vitter Connection Lost on La GOP Chair

From WDSU: Something about two elected officials who solicit hookers doesn’t add up for LA GOP Chair, Roger Villiere.

Battle of the Johns’ dough

From the Washington Post: As the DC GOP walks a tight rope in an attempt to expoit the Spitzer situation, David Vitter is finding himself without a net.

Baum: Why Political Wives Stand by their Horny Hubbies

From Bloomberg News:

Wouldn’t it be nice, just once, if one of these women refused to appear at the obligatory, mea-culpa press conference and told us what was on her mind instead?

You $%*!#e@d, you. Couldn’t you keep it zipped?

Grace: Spitzer’s downfall looks sadly familiar

From the Times-Picayune:

So the upshot is that Spitzer will soon go, and Vitter will try to go on as if nothing had happened.
